A Typical Day

From beginning to end, a typical day in the Jones house.

When he first gets up, he gets a fresh diaper. Don't worry, no picture of that. I turn the TV on to try to keep him occupied while I change it. If he's lucky, I let him watch for a little while.

I sure hope he can see it ok.

Then he gets his breakfast.
He eats an entire banana pretty much every morning. Along with some Cheerios and milk.

Unfortunately, most of his Cheerios end up on the floor.

And so does his milk.

He pushes random items into our entryway.

Some days we meet Daddy for lunch.

Chopsticks are his toy of choice when dining out. Have a not-so-well-behaved toddler? Give 'em some chopsticks. Works every time. However, for safety's sake, he is only allowed to play with them while we eat.

After his nap he usually gets a snack. Today he got his first strawberry.

And guess where it ended up?

You guessed it. And considering a tiny pack cost 398 yen (more than $4!!), he won't be getting any more.

At some point Mommy has to make some dinner. I try to be smart and prep most of it during nap time. But half the time I finish things up like this.

After dinner he gets his bath.

And after his bath he plays.

And after play time, he goes to bed! Lately, I give him a bottle and read him a story. I put him in his bed awake. When I lay him down, he grins up at me...like he's excited to go to bed. I love it. And I love these days with him.

Weekend

Saturday morning we got up and went to the USO Bazaar. I brought my camera with me, and when I got it out to snap a picture, I saw a message flashing that there was no memory card. I had left it stuck in the computer at home. Hate when I do that. Anyway, we found a few treasures and we had lunch there. We came home so Brendan could take a nap. Tom ended up going to work and I had a chance to read for a while. It was a beautiful day, so we headed outside for a walk once the boy woke up. Our neighbors came with us and brought their dogs. I love it when they walk with us because Brendan loves to watch the dogs. Our favorite route, of course, is along the sea wall, and we happened to catch a beautiful sunset.

And because we were all together, we were able to get a rare picture of the three of us.

We walked for so long that nobody felt like cooking dinner. We went out to eat together, and I had the best fried rice ever. It comes in a hot skillet, with the egg still raw, and you mix it up yourself to finish cooking it. Brendan loved it too but there must have been too much garlic for him because he was up twice during the night.

Sunday we took a picnic lunch (from Burger King) to Kurashiki Dam. It's so beautiful there.

His favorite part of his lunch? The ketchup I squirted right onto his tray.

He even preferred the ketchup over a funnel cake stick. You can call his name until you are blue in the face and he still refuses to look at you.

It was a good day, followed by a good nap, and a dinner I didn't have to fix.

Attack

Yesterday I decided we had had enough of spending our days at home and we needed some action. We got in the car to head to the zoo. And as soon as we started out it started to drizzle. So we headed to Round 1 instead. He hates riding in the car and I turned around to talk to him and saw this.

Here he is when we got there.
Obviously, he had been crying. Don't worry...nothing was wrong. He just hates to ride. Once I paid for our 90 minutes we went straight to the play land. And he made a beeline for this.

He loves these trikes.

We had the place to ourselves. It was some pretty good quality play time.

Yes, I know I need to trim his bangs but he won't sit still long enough to let me do it.

He was fascinated by this machine that sucked the balls up into a tube.

I'm not sure what the weekend entails besides a Scentsy party Sunday for me. I told Tom last night, "I have that party to go to Sunday. You know what that means, right?" And his response was, "Yeah, that means Peanut's going down for a nap." Thank goodness I'll only be next door.

And we'll leave you with "Attack of the Kissy Monster."

I Married A Man of Many Talents

He can juggle.
Who knew?

Brendan loved it.

He woke up from his nap in a great mood, and with some crazy hair.

He has two new bottom teeth. I just noticed them yesterday. Look very closely and you can see them.

We played for a while.

See that wrench? It goes to this car.

It was a gift from Will. It was intended to be "payback" for the car we sent Will for his birthday. His mommy says it is the most annoying toy they own. However, this is one cool car. Tom loves it. Brendan carries the wrench around all the time. It does do some pretty cool stuff.

We played some more.

And then for some reason he was super whiny. If I walked into the kitchen (which involves me stepping over his nemesis:  the baby gate), he cried. If I went to the bathroom, he cried. At one point, if I was not holding him, he was crying. So we had to think outside the box...and inside the bin.

This new Rubbermaid bin entertained him for a while. I only had to pick up 4381 Legos once he was done.

He cooperated briefly for a Mommy & Me photo shoot. I'm working on this self-timer thing.

And he even behaved (sort of) during his bath.

I love his sweet little shadow in this one.

Good night!
