6 Months

So much has changed in the past six months. My tiny newborn has blossomed into an active baby. He's so happy, for the most part, and for that I am definitely grateful. He has developed so much personality. He doesn't even mind strangers...as long as Mommy or Daddy is around. He now grins when he sees that we are there to pick him up from daycare. When he was tiny I couldn't wait for the day that he would flash me a huge smile when I got there. Now I wish I could make him tiny again! Enough sap. Here are some photos, along with some commentary, from our last week or so.

This is the outfit Brendan wore home from the hospital. It was HUGE on him. Completely swallowed him whole. What a difference 6 months make. We got this comparison idea from Carrie.

And he spent the vast majority of his first few weeks in these t-shirts. I remember washing all of his newborn clothes and wondering if they would be too small. I had no idea how tiny my baby would be! Six pounds is not much at all.

In honor of his six month "birthday," Brendan got his first piece of cake.

I must say he was not too impressed.

Definitely not the face of a chocolate lover. I wondered, "Is this really MY child?"

Sometimes once this sweet boy has fallen asleep I have a hard time putting him to bed. I want to snuggle and cuddle him while he still lets me.

Brendan went to daycare one day this week in these adorable overalls. And when I picked him up and he STILL had them on (he dirties at least one outfit every day), I knew it was a sign that we should have a little photo session.

This boy loves his daddy. His whole face lights up when he sees him. It's precious. And Daddy feels the same way.

We're practicing sitting up. Not quite there yet. I got this shot "mid-topple." That's why it's so blurry.
We had a good time playing on the floor together.

One night this week Brendan was supposed to be playing while I made dinner. I caught him watching TV instead.
And then he noticed me noticing him.
And here is the crazy cat. Brendan and I were playing and I had the TV on for background noise. Sophie noticed the birds.

Finally, one of my favorite baby parts.

From Mommy To Brendan

Dear Brendan,

Six months ago today my life changed in ways I never knew it could. My heart grew to accommodate my love for you. I never knew it was possible to love someone so tiny so much.

You have gone from this...

...to this.

Your smiles never fail to brighten even the gloomiest of my days.

I love your tiny fingers...

...and your tiny toes.

You never cease to amaze me.

Thank you for being the best baby a mommy could ever ask for. I love you to the moon and back. Don't ever forget that.

And thank you, God, for the greatest gift You could have ever given me.

This mommy thing is way better than I ever expected.

Lazy Days

This weekend was spent quietly at home. Just the way I'd prefer it after a long week at work. It was my first full week in quite some time and I have to get used to this five day work week again.

Brendan also developed a fever. His first one. We pumped him full of fluids, and he has learned to hold his bottle on his own.

Daddy and Brendan got to spend lots of time together since it was just the three of us at home.

Saturday night was terrible. Thankfully, Brendan woke up Sunday in much better spirits and much cooler to the touch. Thank goodness for Tylenol. He looks like he never felt bad at all.

He played in his high chair for quite some time after breakfast.

This jumping toy has been sitting in the corner collecting dust. Kind of like our treadmill except this thing has not yet been relegated to the garage. Thankfully, he finally seems to enjoy it.

Kody and Sophie enjoy their naps on Brendan's play mat when it is not in use.

I originally put the baby in this toy while it was in its normal spot in the corner. Tom made me move it because "nobody puts Baby in the corner."

Obviously, the fever didn't phase him much.

Weekend

Brendan got another new food last weekend:  pears.

As you've all seen, he's an excellent eater. I haven't yet given him anything that he will not eat. And he eats it all with relish. When I picked him up this afternoon, I asked, "Did you eat all your food today?" and Ms. Loretta replied, "Of course." Duh. That goes without saying.

And Mommy and Daddy got to go on a date, thanks to Grandma.

Makayla did not go, and yes, I am getting new makeup since my face is quite obviously eight shades lighter than the rest of me.

On our last day of the visit with Grandma and the girls, we decided to take the entire family to the playground. It only lasted a few minutes since it was boiling hot. Brendan did enjoy the swing (again).

And Makayla enjoyed pushing him.

Until she thought it might be fun to twist the swing. And then I made her stop.

Even the big kid got in a little play time.

Brendan also enjoys swinging in someone's lap.

He looks like a pro. He knows exactly where he's supposed to hold on.

And here are a few random pictures. Just because they're cute.

She promptly got down when he got a fist full of her hair.

One of my personal favorites. There's nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby.

This one would be frame worthy if it weren't for that drool.
