Happy Easter!

I love the Easter Bunny just as much as the next person, but we could probably all use a reminder of what Easter is all about.

Matthew 28:1-10

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me."

Look who I caught in the act!

Good thing I did, too. He told me that two of Brendan's treats got left behind so he's mailing them.

We got up this morning and Brendan got his Easter goodies.

He got sand toys for the beach!

I got us ready and we went to church. I really wanted to try an off-base church but the service didn't start until 11:00, and Brendan is used to a nap around 11:30. I decided to go to the chapel on base since their service started at 10:00. We got there and headed to the nursery. The workers were apparently new and unsure of what to do. I left Brendan crying in the middle of the floor. He always screams when I leave him at daycare but five seconds later he's fine. I know this because I stand in the hallway and peek in the window. I stood in the hallway this morning and he continued to cry. I peeked in the window and they weren't even trying to comfort him. After about two minutes I walked back in, picked him up, and walked out. The chapel has this really nice extension of the sanctuary where parents with small children can sit. I briefly considered sitting there with him. However, Brendan is not one of those children who will sit in a chair and play quietly with a few toys. So we left.

And went to the beach.

We played with his new sand toys.

He found out that he does not like the waves. He doesn't understand why they come up and get him. It didn't help that the water was really cold. He ran from them...kind of like he would run from the monkey car.

He ate plenty of sand.

What Easter is complete without a chocolate bunny?

We enjoyed our day. Hope you enjoyed yours!
